Albany technical college is reaching out to students with disabilities.

The Georgia Commission for Service and Volunteerism awarded the Disability Inclusion & Involvement Grant to Albany Technical College last year.

Albany Tech received about $4,500.

As part of the grant, Albany Tech hosted a one-day workshop for high school and post-secondary students with disabilities.

They wants students to focus on their abilities rather than their disabilities.

"Focus on leadership, to focus on the opportunities that our students can have after they leave high school, we have presenters that have come form the state office that are sharing information with our students to help them to know that they can have what it takes to be successful," says Regina Watts, Special Needs Coordinator.

The workshop was made possible by a partnership effort with Albany Police AmeriCorps and various other disability service providers.
