The folks at Albany Technical College want to make sure high schoolers are considering tech programs.

Albany Tech officials met with high school counselors, technical education directors and graduation coaches, Friday, to encourage high school students to think about technical education.

The dean of academic affairs spoke about "Go Build Georgia", which a program designed to inspire students to consider careers as skilled tradesmen.

Officials hope it will bring jobs to Georgia.

"We want to encourage students to develop work force skills so companies will come to Georgia and see that we have a work force that is ready to go to work," said Albany Tech Dean of Academic Affairs Emmett Griswold.

The Governor's Office of Workforce Development, which developed Go Build Georgia, works to improve job training and marketability of Georgia's workforce and drive future economic growth for the state.
